KMLabs Inc. introduces the Wyvern™ single-box laser system, producing:

20uJ, sub-50fs pulses at 100kHz repetition rate.

The Wyvern™ is a complete, single-box laser system, housing the ti:sapphire laser oscillator, regenerative amplifier, and both pump lasers within a single 60cm x 150cm enclosure. The Wyvern's™ short pulses, high energy and excellent spatial profile are exceptionally well-suited to nonlinear optics applications, e.g. allowing efficient white light production.

The Wyvern employs a patented downchirped pulse amplification (DPA) platform. Now commercially available for the first time ever, KMLabs has exclusive rights to the patent on DPA ( US patent # 7,072,101).

Downchirped pulse amplification has numerous benefits over traditional, chirped pulse amplification (CPA), among them:

1) DPA is ~45% more efficient than traditional CPA.
2) DPA is easier to align and maintain than traditional CPA.
3) DPA is less costly than traditional CPA, upfront and over time.
4) DPA preserves a superb mode quality.
5) DPA is less susceptible to spatial chirp.
6) DPA is more compact than traditional CPA.
