The RedDragon TM is KMLabs' high power, two-stage laser amplifier system, compatible with many different pump lasers operating between 1 and 20kHz.

The RedDragon employs KMLabs' cryogenically-cooled Dragon as the first stage of amplification, as well as cryogenic cooling in the second amplification stage. Employing our patented technology in the first stage of amplification, KMLabs ensures repetition rate flexibility for our multistage systems, as well as our single-stage systems.

By contrast, systems that employ cryogenic cooling only within second and subsequent amplification stages suffer from thermal lensing within the first stage amplification crystal, just as an uncryo-cooled single stage amplifier would. Thermal lensing within the first amplification stage prevents real time changes in repetition rate or pump power.

With complete cryo-cooling, the KMLabs RedDragon laser systems can be used over wide repetition rate ranges, without any optical adjustment required.

For example, KMLabs can provide sub-25fs, RedDragon laser systems producing:

20mJ at 1kHz, and 1mJ at 10kHz, from a single system, with no optical realignment necessary, as you change from 1-10kHz.

KMLabs has also shipped RedDragon systems producing:

3mJ at 10kHz, and 1mJ at 20kHz, from a single system, with no optical realignment necessary, as you change from 10-20kHz.

RedDragon Features:

- Unique, cryogenic cooling of the ti:sapphire crystal (US Patent #: 6,804,287) allows for a compact design that nearly doubles the optical amplification in each crystal.
- Cryogenically cooling each crystal reduces the thermal lens by a factor of 250 at 100W of pump. This makes the optical alignment insensitive to the pump power, and thus allows real-time change of the repetition rate, without optical realignment.
- Closed-loop, helium-gas-based cryogenics are hands-off, fully interlocked, and require minimal user-maintenance.
- Ultrahigh vacuum (1x10-8Torr) protects each crystal using a sealed, internal ion pump that requires minimal user maintenance.
- Comprehensive, fully integrated system diagnostics make the RedDragon a user-friendly amplification system, providing reference data for real time assistance with spatial, spectral, and energy optimization. Extensive data logs allow remote observation of system configuration for diagnostic assistance.
- Available with carrier envelope phase stabilization.
- Repetition rate stabilization is available when seeded with the KMLabs' Halcyon, repetition rate stabilized ti:sapphire oscillator.
